Prime Minister of Cambodia: If you don’t rely on China, who do you rely on?
On the 20th local time, when attending the opening ceremony of the 26th International Conference on the Future of Asia hosted by the Nikkei, Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Sen decided when faced with Japan’s concerns about the international community’s concern that Cambodia is too dependent on China. Said: If I do not rely on China, who do I rely on?
Hun Sen said, “If you don’t rely on China, who do I rely on? Continue to make Cambodian people nowhere to go? Let the people cross the river by boat? In the 1990s, Japan assisted in constructing two bridges across the Mekong and then across the Mekong and caves. The bridge over the Rissa River and the Baise River was built with Chinese assistance. More than 3,000 kilometers of roads in Cambodia were also built with Chinese assistance. So, I ask you, if you don’t rely on China, can the international community give Cambodia an answer?”
Hun Sen said, “Without China’s assistance and commercial purchases, how can Cambodia’s nearly 2 million people be vaccinated? The United States has announced that Cambodia will provide 11 million U.S. dollars in anti-epidemic assistance, but so far, we don’t know this amount. Where. At the same time, we have already proposed 4 million doses of the new crown vaccine to the United States. So far, we have not received any response from the United States. Yesterday the official social media in Cambodia announced that it would provide 1.1 million doses of vaccine to Cambodia. We will arrive in Cambodia shortly. But when we asked the other party for verification, the other party said that they could not be sure.”
Hun Sen finally said that from the 1990s to the beginning of the 21st century, Japan provided a lot of aid to Cambodia to help Cambodia develop and build. But why did no one say that Cambodia is too dependent on Japan? And when China provides help to Cambodia, it doubts that Cambodia is too reliant on China? It’s so unfair.
